RR through our eyes (Chapter 15)
A big thanks to Mano (Multimedia) for the edits.
“Myrah, I would
like to talk to you now. ALONE. Please stay back. Rudra, give us some time.
ALONE. ” Rajeev said. More like roared. After that it was as if the mute button
was pressed in skype at both the laptops. Myrah felt as if she is getting burnt
by the looks her parents gave her over the monitor. She could feel them rather
than see them. She dared not look at the monitor. She could feel the tension in
Rudra. There was nothing she could do at this moment to assure him that all
will be well. She herself did not feel sure of anything anymore. When Rohit
informed her that he has been in touch with her parents all through and they
were up-to-date with what was happening in the haveli, she had assumed that her
parents knew everything about Rudra and
Dhruv. And when the video chat started and she saw her mother bubbling with
energy and her father a little moody compared to normal, Myrah was quite
relieved. She was hoping that their first meeting with Rudra will be a cake
walk. But now she understands otherwise. Rohit never told them the whole story.
She wondered why. Was he afraid of their reaction ? Or did he just forget ? Did
he think that to not tell the truth about Rudra’s past is the best thing to do
to get her parent’s blessings ? Anyway, now is not the time to ponder over what
happened, what should have happened or what she should have done.
She felt difficulty
in breathing..She tried hard. Probably Rudra saw her gasp for breath. Because
his right hand moved slowly and covered her shaking left hand. Held in a tight
grip. She did not realise till then that her hands had grown cold. Numb. His
warm hand pressed against her cold hand gave her some strength. From the corner
of her eye she could see Rudra extend his left hand and get hold of the glass
of water. He passed it onto her which she accepted without even a glance in his
direction. She felt afraid to look at her parents. And ashamed of herself that
she had let Rudra down in some way. And hence could not look at him as well.
“Myrah, paani pi
lo” Rudra’s words brought her back to reality. That she was still holding onto
the glass with her right hand. Slowly she sipped water. Seconds ticked away in
slow motion. Why is the internet working so well in India when she badly wanted
the line to get disconnected ?
It was Rudra who
spoke again. But this time to her parents. Not to her.
“I understand that
you want to talk to Myrah alone. I will leave the room.” He said. “Myrah, if
you need anything call out my name. I will be standing outside.” Squeezing her
hand to show his understanding, he stepped out. Myrah felt even worse. She
should have been the one under control. To put Rudra at ease. Instead she is a
bundle of nerves. All thanks to her Dad’s shouting. She felt anger building up
inside her. There was no reason for her Dad to behave like that. To make Rudra
feel like an outsider and ask him to literally get out. This is not done. Luckily
the anger helped her to get back her breath. With piercing eyes she turned
towards her parents.
“How can you talk
to him like that ? Why did you ask him to go out ? You could have said whatever
you wanted to both of us, you know.” Myrah’s voice was still trembling. She was
not sure what was the reason behind it – fear or anger.
“Yeah right. Myrah,
come out of your trance. We are talking about you here. And you emotions and
decisions. Not Rudra. Are you in your right frame of mind ? You wanted to
travel to India alone. You insisted. We agreed. The plan was for you to find a
venue for your wedding with Rohit later in the year. Then within a few days
Rohit travels to India and you decide to get married to him within a week.
Without even the parents of both of you. Fine we agreed. So did Rohit’s
parents. Two days later he calls up and says you two are getting married the
next day – that is today. Now when you call us we assume it is to get our
blessings. And we come to know that YOU changed the groom in the last minute.
From your friend of years to a widowed man with a son. Whom you just met. Who
in their rational mind will do such a thing ? You and Rohit decided to get married
after knowing each other from childhood. And Rudra and you decide that you will
spend the rest of your lives with each other after spending less than a month
together ? “ Rajeev was literally fuming. And for once Poonam did not interrupt
her husband. It was as if they had ganged up against their only child.
“Daddy, to fall in
love one does not need to spend years together. You and Mama know that already.
You both met once in a cousin’s wedding and fell in love.”
“Don’t talk
nonsense. That was different. We were related. Our families knew each other
well. Though we had not met before that we knew all about each other. And most
importantly we both were not married. And we did not keep changing our
decisions. I will get the travel agent to book another ticket along with Rohit.
Just get on that plane and come back. No more discussions over long distance”
“Yes I agree.
Rajeev is right. Myrah , do not take decisions in haste that will make you
regret later. Just come back home, honey. You need not marry Rohit. We are all
fine with that. Come home. Bas. We need to see you in person” Poonam sounded
desperate. Frustration in having to deal with such a fickle minded daughter was
quite present in her tone.
Myrah was now sure
that there was no way her parents will give approval for the wedding. And she
loved her parents too much to go against their wishes. But she was not ready to
leave Rudra and go back. No way. If her parents care so much about her then let
them come here for the wedding.
“Okay I also agree
that we should discuss this in person. But I am not coming there. You both come
over to India and attend the wedding and give me and Rudra your blessings.
“Myrah replied
“Have you taken
leave of your.....” Rajeev’s words were cut short by Poonam who was more in control
of herself by now. “Thik Hai Myrah. We will come. And we three will sit and
discuss. We have gone through hell before as well - just after your accident. But we all
survived then. We will survive now also. So we will come”
“Mama, don’t
compare my wedding to my accident” Myrah’s voice went up a notch.
“Nahin beta. That
is not what I meant. We three have faced more difficult situations. So this
also we can go through. Provided we all are ready to behave amicably. We both
will come there. Give me a promise that you will not do anything in haste till
then. That you will not start the wedding preparations till we come there. “
“But Mama.........”
Myrah started thinking of how in the world can she convince them now. She was
not sure she wanted to wait even one more day to be united with Rudra. She felt
as if she has waited years already - not a few days.
“We are your
parents and want the best for you. So don’t treat us as enemies.” Rajeev
finally spoke. He fell in line with his wife. Now is not the time to push Myrah
to a corner or to make her feel alone. He was confident that they can make her
see sense in their line of thinking. But it has to be in person as Poonam had
put it.
There was no way
Myrah could refuse to listen to such emotional pleas. She agreed – rather reluctantly. And sat
there staring at the empty monitor for more than half an hour. Wondering
whether her future as she wished for now would be affected by that promise she
gave her parents. Whether her parents will try to talk her out of the wedding
once they were here.
“Rajeev, aapko aise
nahin karna chahiye tha “ Poonam’s accusing voice was directed at Rajeev after
the call.”Didn’t you see her struggling for her breath ? What if she got a
panic attack like earlier ? You should have had more control”
“Yes I made a
mistake. But I was not prepared for this shock. And Rohit also did not
tell us before. Hope Myrah is fine. I was so stupid to pounce on her like that.”
Rajeev was ridden with guilt.
Both of them
have seen the panic attacks and the nightmares Myrah went through for years
after the accident. They took so much care to not affect her in any way. Never
even raised their voice when she was around. And today he shouted at her. Inspite
of Poonam trying to put him at ease Rajeev could not forgive himself for what
he did.
Truly truly beautiful JJKKL.And brilliantly written......you have delved so beautifully into the characters of Poonam & Rajeev Mehra.....the way they foamed & frothed is exactly how any parent would react....thank you for updating it & not making us wait endlessly ( NavyaKavya )
ReplyDeleteThanks NavyaKavya. I would have definitely liked to see Myrah's parents in the serial. Those who made such a simple happy person out of Myrah must have been wonderful parents. Holidays this week helped to write the chapters :-) Glad you liked it
DeleteVery well written. The beauty in your writing is that I feel as if I am a part of the scene , watching it in person.Thank you.
ReplyDeleteAnnahita
Thanks Annahita. Oh I am so happy that you could feel that you were part of the scene. Thanks for liking it
DeleteBeautifully written, JJ, very realistic from the POV of all the characters, Myrah, her parents, and Rudra.
ReplyDeleteDia
Dia,
DeleteI am sure you would have written it better than me. But AD can be very demanding. So the readers have to put up with my writing for now :-)
Loved , loved the way Rudra is holding Myrah's hands, loved the way Mehra's are shown on the computer screen, loved the update ! Now I am waiting, with holding my breath, to see how Rudra will feel or react at the prospect of the wedding not taking place immediately & on top of that , as if that wasn't enough now Mehra's are coming over to Udaipur,,,, my, my , my would love to see Rudra bana's reactions.
ReplyDeleteHarshuu.
Thanks Harshuu. Yes I also liked it that Rudra gave a bit of peace to Myrah while her own parents were against her. Oh how I wish they had shown Rudra Bana's reactions in the serial ... I sometimes feel so bad for the fate of RR. It had such great potential........
DeleteThanks a lot for liking the update. And the photo edits. Mano is simply superb in creating them
Thank you for your update. Enjoyed reading it.{ tiniaa from IF }
ReplyDeleteThanks tiniaa. Glad you liked it. Hope to make it interesting going forward too
DeleteI am so sorry I forgot to mention about the awesom edits.....I reaslised it later but couldn't write because of overflowing guests at home....just managed to sneak some time to write a quich comment on the great, lovely edits......they deserve a very special mention.....hats off, a big thumbs up to the person who did these......a lot of thinking/hard work would have gone in selecting the appropriate one ......( NavyaKavya)
ReplyDeleteThanks for mentioning them. Mano did put in lot of effort in making thee apt ones. I loved them. Glad you loved tham as well Mano is multimedia from IF
DeleteLoved it JJ..well thought out POVs of all the characters..as much as I hated paro's death n this forced myrah track, like so many of us, would have loved to see a proper myrud track with all of myrah's n rohits relatives in the picture...sigh!! Atleast reading ur FF makes me feel good n lets me imagine a nice track n proper closure...
ReplyDeleteThanks dear. This is my way of coming to terms with RR closure :-)
DeleteForgot to mention..its me Aparna from Twitter...n howdy dia..big hugs..n sry for being gayab all this while... thanks to a random tweet exchage with JJ I m reviving my visit to ur blog
ReplyDeleteAparna, yes I did want to ask who the preivous post was from :-) Thanks for visiting us and liking the blog. Hope we can continue to impress you
DeleteBTW awesome caps, Mano: Appreciate all the efforts behind these creations, caps selected by you were absoulutly bang on. A special thank you for Mano.
ReplyDeleteYes Mano has done such a great job. I was amazed that it fit so well with the writeup. Thanks for liking them.
DeleteThe earlier comment was by me Annahitaa
ReplyDelete:-)
DeleteNicely done JJ. :)
ReplyDeleteLike the caps added to the story...thanks to Mano. :)
Myrah put on a spot as well by her parents. Rudra's warm support is going to be her strength in the coming days.
Liked Myrah's stand about not leaving India. Parents arrival ......all ready for the emotional blackmail....ultimate weapon used by parents. Thank goodness mine are not like that!!
Take care.
Kerrie
Hi Kerrie,
DeleteFinally you are here :-) Yes the caps are a treat to watch. Mano does it so well.
Myrah's parents did emotionally blackmail her. But look at it from their POV. They are not convinced that she is doing the right thing. Remember till they came to know about Paro and Dhruv they were quite okay. Poonam was happy and Rajeev was a little moody. That is all. So hope you forgive them for what they did.
Yes thank God your parents are not like that. Mine do try for smaller issues. More like fun types. But otherwise they are quite chill........
Rudra by himself just wants Myrah with him by his side in his room - with him and Dhruv - forever. But the health condition was projected to make us understand why he cannot do what he wants to do.
Thanks again for liking the chapter and commenting
Wow super update JJ. Seems like Myrah will need rudra's support big time when her parents come down cos they are hell bent on breaking her marriage. Very interesting and cant wait to read the next
ReplyDeleteLovely edits by Mano and thank u dear for sharing them with us.
Hugs
Praba
Hi Praba, Glad you dropped by to read the chapter and comment. I agree lovely edits by Mano. Myrah will need Rudra's support more and not his anger. Hope he understands the same.
ReplyDeleteHappy that at least we get to read what we wanted to watch onscreen.Lovely narration JJ.
ReplyDeleteThis is want we wanted, but the one that we got was frustrating.Keep Going.Waiting for the story to unfold.
Thank u everyone for liking my edits. Thanks for u lovely comments.
Mano
Crap her parents still want her to marry Rohit
ReplyDeleteShe has to a lot to convince her parents she is in love with Rudra
No matter what anyone says Rudra is not letting Myrah leave she is his wife
Waiting so see what happens next
Is ti realistic for Myrah's parents to immediately accept the change of plans ? And that too to somebody who is not an eligible bachelor in their minds ? So Rudra has to be patient and be with Myrah to get through this phase
DeleteSeeta_naips, thanks a lot for stopping by and liking the story.
This is very beautiful chapter.... the parents are so correct in their own way.. what I really liked it how each character's mental turmoil is being brought forth and we can all see what each one of them is feeling.
ReplyDeleteI loved this chapter a lot. Myrah is attached to Rudra by a soul connection which she has felt but is unable to describe which is why it is unexplainable to anyone what she feels for him and why ? This brought a smile to my face... thanks for the awesome update.
Yes I also felt the parents are right. It is not that they are adamant or against her. They just cannot see the logic. Glad we could bring a smile to your face.
DeleteHope you liked the edits by Mano. I love them.
It is an very interesting update. I read all the chapters in one go. Very addictive. U have got great writing skills Waiting for the next part.
ReplyDeleteNandhu
Hi Nandhu,
DeleteI see that you are here for the first time. Are you from IF or twitter ? What is the handle ? Read all the chapters in one go ? Thank you dear. I could not have got a better compliment. Addictive ? Oh my goodness. Thanks a lot for the appreciation. Next chapter is getting ready. In a day or two :-)
Hi JJKKL
DeleteI'm from IF & just accidentally came across ur blog link & decided to check it out & it turned out good. Looking forward to ur next post
Nandhu
Thanks for the reply Nandhu. Mostly I will post the next chapter today

ReplyDeleteIt is kind of done. But I was busy today and could not check it before posting. So most probably tomorrow. It is through the comments that we al connect - right ? We get lot of page views for the blog but not as many comments. Hope the readers leave more comments in the future. Thanks for dropping by. And glad you liked Mano's edits. I love them
DeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteNice update. Upset parents understandable. Arrival in India should start the "marriage drama" LOL.
Trying times for Rudra and Myrah.
Like the visuals added by Mano.
Take care
Madhu
Hi Madhu, Glad you liked it and can understand Myrah's parents POV. Yes, the visuals by Mano are a treat to watch. Thanks again for dropping by
DeleteN mano ke edits r perfect..like icing on yummy cake..Aparna
ReplyDeleteYes agree 100%. They bring life to the story. Wait till you watch the next chapter edits :-)
DeleteHey JJ,
ReplyDeleteFirst of all sorry for the delayed reply honey..This weekend was quite busy :(..Well nice update fully dedicated to Myra and her parents...both seems to be correct in their own way...hmm so whats with the accident and panic attack..when are going to reveal that secret.Wink.I am sure it has to be something with Myra being Paro !!!..Keep going...
Cheers
Deepa
Thanks Deepa for dropping. I know it was very difficult for you in the midst of your birthday celebrations. Glad you liked the storyline.
DeleteThe caps along with the story is a great idea. So thanks to Mano for that.
DeleteMyrah's hesitation in the beginning and Rudra's support is so touching. She is so scared that her parents won't understand and he wants to be there for her as well as heed to her parents wish for privacy.
You almost want to be mad at her parents for not respecting her decision. But you have written their perspective so well. Their daughter who was scouting a location to marry her childhood best friend suddenly changes her mind and wants to marry a person they hardly know. They will freak out.
Loved the update
-Rithu from IF
Thank you Rithu. Caps that too Mano's are a treat. Glad that you are able to appreciate Myrah's parents' POV by the end of the chapter.
ReplyDeleteRudra of the present is a toned down version. The Jallad would not have left Myrah alone to face the music.
The Jallad wouldn't have allowed Rohit to enter their home or come close to Myrah. The story would have gone on an entirely different track.
DeleteFantastic work JJ. Loved how Rudra was able to calm Myrah down. Rajjev had lost his cool for a bit and is now guilt ridden. Cant wait for them to get to India and witness the PaRud connection.
ReplyDeleteMano, lovely edits.
Varshu from IF
Thanks for the comments Varshu. Glad you liked it. We are also eagerly waiting for the Mehras to visit :-)
DeleteA nice update JJ. have added my comments to the previous chapter also.
ReplyDeleteAgain I say I am in sync with Myrah's parents. But what boggles me is Myrah have no right to be angry with her parents. She shouldn't have talked with her parents in this way. And expecting Rohit to convey such an important part of her life and them just accepting it, didn't go down too well with me. Myrah is at present behaving rather unreasonable.
Rudra will support Myrah agree but I want him to stand up for Myrah. Agreed he was not prepared for this sudden video chat with her parents. But he should make Myrah understand her parent's point of view and when they come down to udaipur, he should be clear with them about Myrah being Paro.
What scenario are you planning when they actually get down in udaipur. As such their daughter marrying a widower with child is a shock for them. And if they get to know that she resembles his late wife (according to them), they would freak out.
Very curious to know about the future updates. Please update at regular intervals
Thanks for the comments psagars. I agree Myrah has no right to be angry with her parents. But why we wrote this storyline is because of her getting her way all these years. Her parents agreed to every small thing she wanted in life. And then there is this soul connection she has with Rudra which she will not be able to explain. Hopefully the coming chapters will convince you.
DeleteYes we will update once a week. And thanks again for taking the time to write down so well what you like and what you don't. Over to the next chapter comments.
Read it again...this time around the connect with previous chapters made it worth it even more..so i m ready for the next update..yippie!! Aparna
ReplyDeletesomehow i always felt that circumstances were unfair to our PARUD. the passion, the romance that they shared was somehow belittled in the Myra track. i would have much preferred if it would have taken this route of finding paro in the garb of myra
ReplyDeleteAgreed Henamani. Even the creators were so confused towards the end. Two episodes Rudra was passionately talking about Paro. Then two episodes later he was falling for Myrah. It was so unconvincing.
DeleteThanks for reading and commenting.. Hope to see you here more often
wow this didnt go as planned
ReplyDeletenope
she didnt know naa that rohit didnt tell all to her parents
but then it wasnt his place to tell either
she is marrying rudra and not rohit naa
they were mad
and rightly so
but then they dont know that myrah does know rudra
just she forgot him
rudra was in control there
good they didnt corner her
or panic attack seemed likely
she wont change her mind
rudra cant let her leave him again
so her parents are coming here huh
this should be fun
