For those of you who liked the romance here is more.
And for those of you who wanted to get the storyline back - this chapter is very essential for the story to move forward. So please hold on.  And we will be back to the original story from next chapter onwards.

****************************************************************

She coveted him----very much so in that moment. Her body hungered for his touch. The fire that he had incited inside her----only he could appease, she knew that with a certainty. Rudra saw the want, the craving in her gleaming eyes and he wondered if it was reflection of his own needs? Was he imagining things because he burned for her?

Hunger gnawed at him as he regarded her, sprawling in bed like a nymph sent out to rob him of all reason. The sari that she had casually wrapped around had come undone in their slip and fall. He saw the rise and fall of her bosom and the luscious slopes called out to him, rousing in him the fires kindled long ago

The tightening of his facial muscles, the flaring of his nostrils and the passion blazing in his eyes made the female in Paro rejoice. He wanted her and that was a powerful thing----it almost served as an aphrodisiac, mulling her already whirling senses

Her hand went to his chest and she felt his heartbeat, beating hard and fast, for her----she was sure of it. She looked up at him and he picked her hand from his chest and kissed the pulse at her wrist. How could a simple brushing of one’s lips against wrist manage to drive her crazy, Paro thought?

Nothing was simple when it came to to Rudra and her, she realized seconds later. She had met him and fallen for him, just like that. It was as if the two bodies when set in motion could not help but collide into each other-----it was inevitable!

Kissing her wrist and then following the path on her arm and up until he reached her shoulder, Rudra paid homage to her neck once again. Paro closed her eyes as she felt him so close. Her arms went around him and she hoped that he understood that she wanted him too.

Next moment, he was nuzzling her neck and his arms went around her as she lay down in bed and he followed. The weight of his body on hers felt amazing and she whimpered. Impatient now, she turned her face upwards to him and that was enough of a signal for him to follow his heart

Seizing her parted lips with his own, he kissed her again. No matter how long he kissed her, it was just not enough! Feeling her soft lips under his, her arms stroking his back in encouragement, her moans-----his appetite precipitated quickly.

The feel of her soft body wiggling restlessly under his hard one only managed to ignite the embers of desire dangerously. He heard her gasp loudly this time and stopped momentarily. Maybe, he had pushed too far, Rudra thought

Paro had been shocked for a second but then she realized that she loved him, desired him. She was going to be married to him, be his wife in just a few hours.

Rudra placed his head against her forehead, closing his eyes as he tried to calm his rioting nerves. Too turned on, he needed to take a deep breath and then move out of here. It was a bad idea to start this. Just a few hours-----he repeated the mantra to himself and she would be his.

Paro stayed like that, listening to his heavy breathing. Then she felt him shift off her and suddenly, she felt cold and empty. In next instant, Rudra picked up the sari that had come unravelled earlier and covered her

He turned to look at her, her hair as if tousled, her lips wet and swollen from their kissing, her face pink and flushed and her dress of partial undress----Rudra couldn’t help but think that she looked like a woman loved.

Everything about her dishevelled appearance screamed that she had spent time being intimate with him-----a woman marked and she was his, only his, he thought with some satisfaction. She looked too delectable, in his opinion and that was the root of the problem----he just hadn’t been able to control himself even when he knew she was going to be his, soon.

Paro wondered what was going through his head in that moment. He had been so eager, so loving moments ago and now he watched her, cautiously. How could she let him know that she was willing to be his----in every way? She needed him just as much as he wanted her!

He turned to her and then said, his voice very hoarse, “Mujhay ab jaana chaahiye……mera yahaan aur der rehna theek nahi hai……..ab mein chalta hoon…I should go now......it is not right on my part to stay.......” and he wished her good night

It killed him to deny what his heart and body yearned for, screamed for but he tried to be honorable. And then he got off the bed.

Before he could leave, her hand reached out to grab his wrist. Rudra turned to look at Paro as she got up and asked him, her voice quivering, “Rudra……stop…..aur agar mein kahoon kay abhi mut jaao….tou…what if I tell you to not go ......?”

There was no need to say anymore but he heard the unspoken request in her words. His heart thumped furiously as he understood the implication in her innocent question. Of course, he wanted to stay there and fulfil their desires!

Unfortunately, that could not happen. He didn’t want to do that to her, not when they were getting married the very next day. He swallowed hard as she looked at him, her eyes beseeching him. Freeing his wrist from her hand gently, he grasped her face in both hands and told her lovingly that they should wait.

It was the right thing to do. Somewhere, in his brain, the irony of the situation was not lost on him. He was actually asking her to wait when all he wanted to do was to devour her, make love to her all night long! Now, this was pure madness!

One more time, he kissed her softly on her lips and then tried to walk away, to do the right thing. But, he had barely walked a few steps when he heard her call out, “Rudra…..ruk jaao…..please wait……yeh lo….take this..” and he turned around to see her holding a tiny little engraved silver pot of the red sindoor in her palm

“Shaadi ki hi baat hai naa…..tou yeh lo sindoor…..aur bhar do meri maang……it is about being wedded right ..take this sindoor...and fill up my maang......, “she asked him with love shining in her eyes

Astounded not only by her gesture but by the memories of past, he was shaken to his very core once again. Just like that, she had asked him to marry her, in front of hundreds of people. It was déjà vu! History was repeating itself and he felt drawn to her----her belief in them and their destiny

Powerful emotions gripped him and he so badly wanted to blurt out everything to her but his hands were tied! He couldn’t take a risk of hurting her. So, he tried his best to control the conflicting emotions afflicting him then.

She was the love of his life, the mother of his child and tomorrow----they would be a family again. That was something he couldn’t risk to take a chance with. She was too precious and he loved her so much!

But, there was something he could do differently this time, Rudra thought as she waited expectantly, looking at him with eyes full of love and conviction. Last time, he had been less than a gentleman, smacking the container of sindoor out of her outstretched palm, throwing it up in the air in front of everyone, without a care for her feelings.

He did though aim it in such a way that the sindoor had still landed in her maang, marking her as his. Tonight, he could do it right and maybe correct one more wrong in the process. Walking towards her, he looked at her and then took a pinch of sindoor in his fingertips. With determination, he marked her scalp, right down the very centre where her hair parted.

She closed her eyes, overwhelmed at the gesture as he obliged her. Her eyes opened as she felt him lifting his hand away. Then, his arms came around to hold her close and he told her softly that she was his wife already. Hearing him call her as such, she lifted her eyes to look at him. Her heart lurched to her throat and she felt like choking at the emotions that seized her when he called her his wife.

Rudra then told her that in his heart, she was already his wife and so nothing else mattered. However, her parents and their family were all here. And she deserved a proper wedding night.

Paro blushed at his words when he told her that while it was just as hard for him to stop, he was willing to wait for a few more hours if he could have her dressed as his bride for a night of lovemaking without any interruptions. Besides, he was looking for a lifetime of these beautiful moments with her.

Her heart soared as he promised her a lifetime of love and family bliss. His arms around her tightened and he leaned in real close and he whispered against her lips, “…….. hamesha kay liye, mein aur tu….Forever.you and me........” before his lips closed on hers and she purred in pleasure

His intentions had been noble and he had planned on leaving her room-----just as soon as he had kissed her one last time. However, the taste of her soft lips as she returned his kiss with complete fervour deteriorated his already weakened resolve.

Intuitively, her fingers in his hair as she raked his hair with such ardour only managed to tighten his hold on her. The aligning of her body into his, so perfectly as if two halves of one soul was enough to shatter his decision of walking from her.

His hands roamed over her body, freely with familiarity as he caressed every curve and dip of her perfect female form. Paro let him kiss her before he walked away but once she was in his arms, she felt lost, swept in the throes of passion beyond her control. His kisses only managed to further rouse the desire in her, making it burn higher and faster

The feelings he invoked in her was hard to fight and she didn’t even feel like waiting anymore. Suddenly, she burned for him; yearned to surrender in his arms, completely and irrevocably.

She wanted to feel loved by the man that she was going to marry. It didn’t feel sinful at all. Everything about being in his arms, being kissed by him, being touched by him felt just right----this is where she was meant to be.

He whispered against her ear, reminding her that he was right at the cusp, too far gone if he didn’t stop in the next second. “…..soch lay…..abhi nahi ruka…..tou phir nahi rok paaoonga……think about it....If I don’t stop now.I won’t be able to.....,”she heard his warning and didn’t care at all!

In response, she tightened her arms around him and hugged him with all the love in her heart. Rudra felt the extent of her desire and love in the way she held him close to her but as if that wasn’t enough, she kissed his ear and whispered, softly yet seductively, granting him permission, “Rudra……Main Aapse bahut pyaar Karti Huun ...I love you so much……Aap Mujhe Mile...Mera Bhagya....Apnayiye Mujhe Major Saab” and he lost whatever little control he had.

It did not even cross his mind to ask her –

Why she called him Major Saab.

Why she addressed him as “Aap” instead of “Tum”.

Whether she remembers her past. A little or everything.

The love reflected in her eyes was all the indication he needed. After all, he was a man deeply in love with the woman in his arms! And so, he continued loving her, showing her with his body what she meant to him, how much he wanted her in his bed, in his life, forever.

She didn’t object when she felt his hands divest her of her clothing or his. Merely shivering as she felt his hard, hair roughened skin come in contact with her soft skin, she opened her arms to hold him, accepting him with her body and soul.

His weight on top of her felt wonderful and she writhed underneath him as he touched and kissed her gently but ardently, worshipping her beautiful body. Her gentle moans delighted him as she begged him to not stop and his appetite for her raged higher.

The soft curves of the beautiful woman in his arms just fuelled the embers of desire that he had fought so hard to control for weeks. She felt perfect in his arms----it was pure heaven and he gave in free reign to his cravings.  It was as if the dam burst and all the longing just poured as he made love to her with his hands, his mouth, paying homage to very part of her elegant feminine form.

Writhing beneath him, she let her hands explore and caress his solid body heavy with muscle and sinew. Pulsating energy under her fingertips as she took liberty to boldly enjoy the magnificent male body, perfectly sculpted------She loved him in her own way, reciprocating as an equal partner.

The feeling of being one with him made her sigh with pleasure and she moaned. Rudra shuddered at the familiarity of being intimate with his beloved Paro after such a long spell and he fought with every fibre of his being to prolong the experience for them both.

She felt as if on fire wherever he touched her, stroked and loved and she gave it her all, holding nothing back from the man she loved with every fibre of her being.

Her gasps of gratification as they waltzed in the mating dance, as ancient as life form on earth, sounded like the sweetest music to his ears-----and he revelled in the knowledge, that she yearned for him just as much as he hungered for her.

Limbs entangled, perspiring bodies flushed as they came together, crashing into each other, moans of delight reverberating in the room, the two lovers took respite in each other.  Tender whispers of love as they moved in unison-----the couple celebrated their love and commitment to each other.

Completely lost in the plethora of emotions sweeping through their passion filled minds, Paro and Rudra gave in to the wafts of euphoria cascading through their bodies. Panting with the efforts of being joined in a bond as powerful as any, they rejoiced in their coming together.

Finally, it had felt right to just give in to their cravings, an expression of their eternal love-----just to let their selves drown in the sea of torrential passion that had always been there, palpable and electrifying. There was simply no other alternative!

They were just meant to be together, always------two bodies but one soul.

They were both trapped – in each other’s souls. They wanted nothing more.

Chapter 28

RR through our eyes (Chapter 28)

Valentine’s Day  Special

Thanks Mano for the edits.

And 100% unadulterated writing from Sonia

Rudra was standing right in front of her, so close that she could feel the heat emanating from his hard body. Paro was good as trapped by the cold wall flush behind her back and the hard, warm chest of a wall----- Rudra in front of her, his body almost touching hers and she felt exhilarated

He saw her pupils dilate, her lips quiver, the pulse at her throat beat erotically and his own desire flared. Rudra wondered if she would push him away but she didn’t. Instead, she looked into his eyes, full of passion. Placing one of his hands on the wall next to her head, he leaned in even further

His eyes went to her bow-shaped, pink succulent lips beguiling him, begging to be kissed and he tried to move in even closer but Paro reminded him, although her voice betrayed her desire, “Rudra……kal humari shaadi hai….tomorrow is our wedding.” and he thought of the fact that he was already married to her. Of course, she wasn’t aware of the fact so, he moved away slightly

Then an idea struck him and he brought his other hand, the one with the single rose that he had plucked, just for her. She saw his other hand and was stunned to see a single beautiful red rose, perfect on a long green stalk as it came in her line of vision.

Genuinely astounded at the gesture, she looked up at him and asked expectantly, “Rudra…..yeh mere liye hai…..this is for me .......?” and he saw sheer happiness on her face, the glint of joy in her big doe eyes  and she simply glowed

Nodding to her, he told her teasingly, “Phir mut kehna kay mein nay tujhay kabhi phool nahi  laakar diya….don’t tell me later that I never brought you flowers.” reminding her of her complaint earlier and she was utterly delighted.

Her hand reached out to take the flower from his hand but he told her to wait. Paro waited patiently and he didn’t make any attempt to move away or hand her the rose. But, nothing had prepared her for the shock of what he did next!

The cool, velvety petals of the rose first brushed against her cheeks, one at a time, then her soft lips and she stood mesmerized, stunned at the sensual gesture, unable to breathe for a second. It was as if the velvety petals of the flower had kissed her and she closed her eyes for a second, suddenly finding it very hard to inhale.

But, he was not done yet as he further shocked her by bringing the same rose to his lips. Seeing him kiss the petals of the red rose slowly as he watched her eyes, Paro felt weak in the knees at this intimate act. Rudra had only kissed the petals on the rose so, why did she feel as if she had been kissed by him on her mouth?

Paro’s pulse raced as she suddenly wanted to feel his full, sensual lips on her own. The lips that had kissed the flower enthralled her and she wanted to experience them on hers. Moment ago, she had been slightly reluctant and stopped him, reminding of their wedding the next day but now, she felt hot and bothered!

How had she ever thought him to be cold and unromantic, Paro pondered?! The man could certainly send her in a tizzy; arouse her to frenzy by a mere look, by his slightest touch! By the myriad of emotions crossing her face, Rudra knew that she was flustered and he reveled in her reaction to him.

He was once again reminded of how Paro had always been rattled by his nearness, her voice going all “kuchhad mucchad” as she had often expressed to him.

The manner in which she looked at him----in particular, at his lips, her eyes slightly glazed as they perused him and his face - sent shivers down his spine. What he wouldn’t do to just grasp her beautiful face in his hands and kiss the living daylights out of her, Rudra thought excitedly!

However, it was simply not going to happen. They were to be married tomorrow. It was just one more night before he could have her in his arms, in his bed, to be his wife once again. Then, he could love her to his heart’s desire. But, she was making it so hard for him. Only if she would stop staring at him with such love in her eyes!

Before he lost control of his senses and did something that they should wait to do, Rudra moved away slightly. Was it disappointment on her face he saw, Rudra thought happily? Handing her the rose, he told her that he could get flowers for her if she so desired and she looked absolutely thrilled at his declaration

Next moment, her arms went around him and she hugged him, tightly as she snuggled her face against his massive chest. Not one to back off, Rudra’s arms came out to gather her close to his body and he closed his eyes at the wonderful sensation of her having in his arms, in his life again.

Paro felt overwhelmed with feelings, too deep and strong. Suddenly, she felt afraid of being swept away, drowned in the sea of emotions. What was about this man, about being in his arms that comforted her so?

Why did it feel like she truly belonged there? Why did it feel like she was meant to be here, always? It felt perfect to be with him like this, safely wrapped in the warm cocoon of his body, protected from the world----she felt like she was finally home!

His hands caressed her back and she enjoyed the feel of his affectionate touch, so soothing. In response, her arms stroked his back fondly. The feel of her soft body curved into his did manage to fan the flames of yearning that had already been stoked, long time ago.

He shifted uncomfortably as he could feel his body tightening in response to her nearness. While he hated to push her away from him, he forced himself to do so lest he act out on his deepest desires and make love to her. He had to remind himself to wait one more night before he could claim her again.

Paro felt his arms slackening around her, the slowing in the movement of his hands around her back and she raised her head to look up at him.

Rudra saw the query in her eyes but he said, “……apna gift tou dekh lay….Have a look at your gift......” and then, he slowly detangled himself from her even though he loathed leaving her. All he really wanted to do was to take her back in his arms but it had to wait for a while

Eager to see what he had brought for her, Paro walked towards the bed and she picked up the beautifully wrapped package. Turning back to look at him, she asked him animatedly, “Is mein kya hai, what is in this Rudra…..?,” even as she had already started untying the bow on it

Folding his arms on his chest, he merely smiled at her enthusiasm and replied, “Khol  kar tou dekh……open it and see......” and she had already ripped the package as if a kid in excitement. Lifting the lid from the box, Paro delved in and found a deep blue sari and she looked up at him, her eyes full of astonishment and love

He asked her, “Sari hai tere liye…a saree for you..neele rang mein…in blue color....pasand aayi….did you like it .....?”

Of course, she liked it, Paro thought. How could she not like it? Not only was it an exquisite gift but because he had selected for her. This was a gift that he had personally handpicked for her and she loved it!

Her voice breaking, she looked at him and replied, “Bohat acchi hai, Rudra…it is very beautiful…I love it……” and he saw her hug the fabric close to her heart as she asked him, “Yeh tumhara favorite color hain naa…this is your favourite color - right..?” as she recalled Dhruv telling her that sometime ago and he nodded

Suddenly, he had the insane urge to see her draped in his gift. As long as he lived, he would never forget how sinfully gorgeous she had looked that night in Jaipur, dressed in red sari as she had danced with him.

Her body moving next to his, in his arms was still etched in his memory. He had almost kissed her on the dance floor that night! That was also the night when he had slept with her in his arms as husband and wife, Rudra reminisced of the days past

Seeing the happiness in her eyes, he felt satisfied. But that was not enough, so he said, “Agar itni accha laga hai tohfa…....tou pehen kar dikha…if you liked it so much .…wear it and show me.....”

“Abhi pehen kar dikhaayoon tumhein, Rudra……really, you want me to change right now….?” Paro asked him fretfully and he nodded in response.

As Paro tried to think of wearing the sari for him, he walked around her and sat on the bed. Paro immediately asked him anxiously, “Rudra……tum yahaan kamrey mein rahogey……tou mein change kaisi karoongi….if you remain in the room how will I change.....?”

He wanted to tell her that he had seen her before but soon realized that it was not an option.  She didn’t remember any of it. So, he told her that he would turn his back and she could change it then. Embarrassed at his suggestion, she hesitated before looking up at him but he appeared to be determined to stay in the room.

Paro wondered how she could take off her clothes while he stayed in the room and stood there for a while, considering her options before making her way to the bathroom. He smiled when he heard the door close behind her and waited but with great impatience.

Few minutes later, Paro walked out and he just stood there, motionless, unable to move or say anything. The softest blue fabric of the sari swathed her petite figure perfectly, covering where needed yet revealing just enough creamy, flawless skin in all the right places to tease all his senses mercilessly

She was wearing the waist chain. She had also done something new with her hair. Made it somehow longer. And she looked just the way she was years back. Her straight silky hair lay softly on her back, the wispy bangs adorning her lovely face as her charismatic hazel eyes looked at his, searching, waiting eagerly for his approval. He knew she waited to hear from him and he wanted to tell her that she looked absolutely beautiful. It was a dream come true for Rudra.

Paro watched him as his gaze traveled along her body leisurely, from head to toe and then back again, pure adulation vividly evident and she couldn’t help but feel exultant. His dark eyes seemed to be twin flames, heating her skin right through the delicate fabric of her sari and she trembled at the intensity of his scrutiny.

Finally, he moved towards her, his eyes never leaving hers. In a few long and powerful strides, he came to stand in front of her and then his hands came out to touch her on her arms, gently and slowly.

His touch made her skin tingle and she asked him, her voice quivering, expectant, “Mein kaisi lag rahi hoon, Rudra….how do I look ....?”

The appreciation, the hunger, the lust-----it was all there, reflected clearly in his eyes as he gazed upon her lush feminine form. Paro saw it all, unmistakably in the depth of his deep russet brown eyes yet she wanted to hear the words. Rudra understood what she was asking for and told her that she looked ravishing.

Ecstatic at his compliment, she smiled at him. Then, her smile wavered as she felt his hands move their way from her arms to her elbows and then to her waist. Pulling her in towards him as she landed against his hard, muscular chest, he held her and she placed her hands on his shoulders

Her pulse quickened with excitement as she felt the heat from his body radiating to hers, warming her in the process. Large masculine hands splayed across her back, caressing her gently as he looked into her eyes.

Not a word was spoken between them but then perhaps, they were not really needed. The unmistakable bonfires of raw desire in his eyes were hard to miss as he stared hungrily at her lips. Recalling how he had touched her lips earlier with the flower petals and then kissed it himself, Paro felt restless.

Suddenly, she really wanted him to kiss her! Surely, there was no harm in that, she thought. After all, they would be married soon. He saw her pink little tongue come out to lick the corner of her lips nervously and that was his undoing!

Groaning with unbearable need that wrenched his gut, he leaned in and placed his mouth on hers. Her fingers tightened on his shoulders, digging into the flesh as she felt his warm lips on her own. The mild pressure of his firm lips on her soft ones felt utterly, totally delicious and she sighed before leaning into him.

Brushing his lips against hers, he kissed her softly. His lips moved to kiss her rosy cheeks, her eyelids, and her chin. Her eyes closed as she felt his affectionate kisses on her face and she heaved a sigh in pure delight. The sweet kisses, the gentle caresses kindled the intensity of feelings buried in her heart and she hugged him back, possessively holding him in her arms, as if to never let him go

Feeling Paro reciprocating his embrace, he became bolder and his lips on hers became more demanding. Firm yet loving, he deepened the kiss, his tongue lightly licking the contour of her lips. Paro felt a jolt as she felt the wetness of his tongue but her lips eagerly parted to his tacit demand.

As her lips opened under his, Rudra’s tongue delved into the dark, soft recesses of her mouth. She tasted just as sweet as he had remembered. It had been so long and it felt just as incredible kissing her, Rudra thought as he took complete possession of her mouth

The way he held her while his tongue licked and probed the inside of her mouth made her shiver uncontrollably. She felt his warm tongue lick the walls of her cheek, rub against her teeth and even taste her tongue and she held onto him, her nails digging into his flesh.

Paro mimicked his movements, her tongue coming out to duel with him. Pleasantly surprised by her response, Rudra groaned with pleasure. His heartbeat accelerated when he felt her kissing him back, her tongue in his mouth, licking and loving him just as he had been doing

Groaning with palpable need, his arms tightened around her back as they kissed, deeply and passionately. She felt his teeth pulling at her lower lip as he sucked on it ardently. Paro’s head was spinning as their mouths fused in the intimate clash of lips and tongue and her hands moved to the nape of his neck before tangling themselves tightly into his hair.

Feverish with desire, she didn’t mind as his hands caressed her partially bare back and hips. Wherever his fingers touched and stroked her flesh, she burned as if he had managed to set her body on fire-----a fire that might only be quenched by their coming together.

Rudra felt the tightening of his body as blood gushed to the parts of his body in response to the beautiful woman in his arms. A part of his brain badgered him to stop before he got lost in the tumultuous storm that threatened to consume his very being.

However, his body throbbed and ached for her. He would stop soon, Rudra mentally tried to convince himself as his lips traced a path down her chin to her delicate, long neck. Stopping to kiss the pulse at the base of her throat, he licked the tender, soft flesh and she moaned.

He recalled Paro being sensitive to his kisses around her neck and he kissed her as just as she used to like and she whimpered in response. Before, he could move down any further, Paro lifted her head and looked at him.

Both were breathing hard, their eyes glazed as she held his face in her hands and placed her lips on his own. Startled but overjoyed by her taking charge, Rudra gathered her in his arms. Who was he to deny her when she wanted him just as much as he wanted her, he rationalized?

The long lost lovers kissed as if parched for each other and then she further astounded him by moving her lips to kiss his cheeks and he sighed deeply. Then, her lips moved to kiss his chin and she trailed her mouth down to his neck, kissing him just as he had done moments ago.

He was already on perilous ground and here she was, pushing him to the brink of insanity! Her soft lips as she kissed his neck sent his pulse racing, a million miles a second and he felt like screaming. The large, inviting bed behind them beckoned to him.

A couple of steps he took and Paro’s knees came in contact with the edge of the bed. Another movement and she tumbled backwards, and Rudra followed her on the bed. It took great effort but he managed to break his fall by using his arms, avoiding hurting her just in nick of time.

Paro lay on the bed with Rudra half reclining on top of her. Her senses were still all over the place from their recent amorous encounter. Her lips tingled and so did her body from his gentle caresses. She looked into his eyes and the heat emanating from them seared her, right through her very soul.

She was trapped. In a better position than last time. And she loved it.

Chapter 27

RR through our eyes (Chapter 27)

Mano, you are a dear. Thanks for making the edits in spite of your injuries.

This chapter is written partly by me and partly by Sonia (desisoapie).
And I am sure all of you know which part is hers. She is such a gifted writer.

Gitanjali is a very genuine person. Who always poked her nose into her dear and near ones’ lives –with an intention of sorting things out. The way she dressed up Paro in Jaipur, the way she made Paro and Rudra get drunk. In order to help them lose their inhibitions. If you remember that was a turning point in Paro and Rudra’s life. Paro who has never been to a big city got a chance to visit Jaipur, to be the Cindrella of the evening, to dance with her Prince Charming and to sleep in his arms.

Gitanjali is also a very curious person by nature. But she knows curiosity killed the cat. Sometimes it is better to keep quiet and let things take its own course. There is always a right time for which you have to wait. Even if it means your best friend will have to suffer for more days by keeping the secret within.

Poonam knew that she had kept the secret for a few years now. Just between her and Rajeev.  They never talked about it. Except sharing a feeling of melancholy at odd times. When a few specific words or instances triggers their worst memories and guilt. There were a few who knew it. But some of them were quite loyal to the Mehras and never brought it up. And they had given up contact with the remaining ones. Poonam was very close to Gitanjali. The kind of friendship which can stand the passing of time and the physical distance between them. And Poonam was waiting to unburden her thoughts to Gitanjali. But the time never came in that evening. It was not wise to discuss such things in haste and in places where others can over hear it. So she also did not bring up the topic. Time will come when she can get Gitanjali alone and she will wait for that day and hour.

So the rest of the evening flowed quite naturally. And Ranawats and the Mehras together convinced the Singhs to stay back for dinner. A grand dinner put together in the short time by the family. Rudra was reminded of his birthday years back when Gitanjali Mam and Singh Sir had visited them. They had been there for the cake cutting and the celebrations. Even given him their car to drive away with Paro to a place quiet and romantic. He looked at Paro who was happily chatting away to glory with Mam. How can he forget the first gift from Mam for him and Paro ? The Jaipur trip which was like a page out of a romantic classic novel. He can never forget Paro’s eagerness to pack for thr trip. Her happiness in seeing a hotel room for the first time – the soft bed, the air conditioner, the champagne, the chocolates, the rose petals on the bed. Yes he had peeped in from the bathroom and seen her dancing oblivious to his presence. He was pulled back from his thoughts by Singh Sir’s question about the date of marriage.

“Within a month is what we would like it to be. To give enough notice to all our relatives and friends to be here. Earlier we were planning to have the wedding reception in NY but now since Myrah is going to be in India we want all our people to come over here.” Rajeev replied implicitly giving his and Poonam’s consent for the wedding. A big round of discussion happened and the plans were put in place. It was decided to have the wedding in a five star hotel as the list of invitees grew like anything on both the sides and the haveli was not enough to accommodate all. And members were assigned responsibilities as below

Mohini to arrange for the Pundit and all the religious ceremonies

Kakusa to arrange for the hotel for the wedding day and the decorations

Samrat and Maithili to assist in all shopping of gifts , jewels and dresses

Sumer and Shatabdi to oversee catering

Sunehri and Aman to get the wedding cards printed and list prepared

Rajeev’s statement seemed to have set the ball rolling leaving the love birds to lose themselves in each other. Rudra felt happy and elated. All his worries and fears of the morning seemed baseless. Finally happiness is here to stay.

This time around things were done differently. Kakisa was bent on making the ceremonies a happy event. Unlike the last time.

This time around Paro and Rudra sat for the Pooja with happiness in their minds.

This time around Paro was not standing in the first floor and looking down at the Sangeet function. She was part of it. Dancing with Sunheri and Shatabdi. Rudra also participated in the dances. There was merriment all around. There was even a special number played for Parud and Dhruv to dance together.

This time around Rudra ran his fingers over Paro’s hands lovingly before the Mehendi. And she blushed. Mehendi design was made by the city’s most sought after beautician. And Paro wanted Rudra to write the “R” himself. After all she remembered. Rudra did not want to change that part of the Mehendi ceremony. He had wanted to write the “R” himself. And when Paro requested him to do it – it was the case of dreams come true.

This time around there was nobody to poison the Haldi. He stared at Paro’s beauty throughout the ceremony while Poonam and others applied Haldi on her. And much later he whisked Paro away to a far corner of the haveli to apply Haldi on her himself.

With his cheeks on her cheeks,

with his arms on her arms,

with his legs on her legs,

with his nose on her nose.

He ran his arms covered with the yellow paste unabashedly on her bare back to his satisfaction making her cheeks become a shade of orange – a mix of red and yellow.

The last few days time flew like a super sonic jet. Before anybody knew it they were all sitting in the haveli after dinner to discuss the last minute activities. It was the eve of the wedding.  And finally when Poonam and Maithili had checked off the last item in the list everybody heaved a sigh of relief. And with a great sense of satisfaction and an anticipation to make the next day’s event a big success they all returned to their rooms. Rudra also went back to the guest room which he occupies nowadays. Just one more day - he thought looking outside through the window.

To see Paro’s smiling face in the night before retiring to his room has become a must for him nowadays. Else he just cannot have a peaceful night. She did not oblige him today. Not after the small tiff they had downstairs earlier in the evening. He has to go back to her and pamper her enough to get that smile back. He waited for some more time – to allow all the others to sleep before he tiptoed to Paro’s – and his – room to give her the gift. The peace offering.

Standing outside her room, he hesitated for a moment. His hands shook as he stared at the package in his hands along with a single red rose. Deliberating on the wisdom of going in to see the object of his desire, Rudra fidgeted with the ribbon tied a little crookedly on the boxed and wrapped gift.

He hoped that Paro would like the sari he had bought for her. The blue sari as she had held it in her hands, stroking the fabric so lovingly was still engraved in his memory.

Of course, they were living under the same roof in an enormous Haveli but it was always swarming with an army of family members! He could barely get her alone, all to himself even for a few minutes without any interruptions and it grated on his nerves at times.

Was it too much to ask that one be able to spend a few moments with the love of his life without being disrupted? At least enough time to bring her back from the lover’s tiff they had ? His arms ached as he thought of holding Paro close to him, to his heart. The truth was that he wanted to not only hold her in his arms but also kiss her, touch her. It had been too damn long!

Just one more night before she would be his, once again, Rudra thought excitedly. Yet, he couldn’t wait-----the anticipation was too much! He had to see her, give her the gift and make sure that she was not upset with him anymore. He didn’t want a pouty bride tomorrow!

Paro heard the slight knock on the door and she closed the box containing her bridal necklace for tomorrow’s wedding, placing it inside the cabinet.

“Kaun hai…..who is it....come in….,” Paro replied wondering if it was Maithili or Sunehri who had come to see her, maybe even talk to her. Or perhaps, it was Dhruv who had gone out earlier to watch a movie with his cousins and Sumer and had returned now

The door opened and she was surprised to see Rudra standing in the doorway with his hands behind his back.

Surprised to see him, Paro asked curiously, “Rudra……tum yahaan kya kar rahe ho…..what are you doing here?”

So, she was still upset with him and he replied, “Kyun…..kal shaadi hai humaari…..tujh say milnay aaya tha…..Why...Tomorrow is our wedding...I cam e to see you....” as he moved inside the room, closing the door with one hand quickly behind him

There was a look in his eyes that Paro tried very hard to discern. It was a look that she had seen often enough in the last few days and she had to admit it to herself. That particular regard of his frightened her yet excited her, sending her senses spiralling

Trying to recall that she was mad at him for what he had said earlier to her, she made a slight scowl as she reminded him, “Rudra……did you forget…..bhool gaye tum….kay mein naraaz hoon tum say….that I am angry with you?”

During a casual conversation earlier, she had mentioned all the romantic things that a man could do for the woman he loved and bringing her flowers was one of them.  Instead of agreeing with her, Rudra had told her that he wasn’t used to doing such clichéd acts and that had really irked her.

Of course, he had been partly joking but before he could rectify his mistake, she had been called away for some wedding related chore. And now, she was annoyed with him, he could tell.

Wasn’t the man supposed to be marrying her tomorrow? Shouldn’t he have just agreed with her, Paro thought as she looked at him standing in her room? Well, it was his room, not hers, at least not until tomorrow anyway and she blushed at the train of her thoughts.

He saw a tint of colour on her cheeks and wondered what she was thinking about. She looked slightly anxious as he walked towards her.

Standing right in front of her, he said softly, “Tere liye tohfa hai…a present for you..aaj raat hi dena chaahta tha…..wanted to give it tonight itself”

Something in the way he spoke and the way he looked at her, with such affection melted her heart but she tried to hold her ground, “Nahi….Nope....mujhay koi tohfa nahi chaahiye….I don't need any gift...” and he placed the box on the bed to his side.

He saw her eyes look at the box inquisitively but she didn’t make any attempt to pick it up. Nonetheless, her words of refusal didn’t hold any heat and he could sense the playfulness behind them, so he asked, “Phir bataa…..kya karoon mein……jo tu maan jaaye……kal shaadi hai……,Okay then tell me..What shall I do to make you agree.....tomorrow is our marriage “and he paused to look into her eyes, and then told her that he didn’t want an angry bride tomorrow but a loving one.

The implication behind his words was not lost on her as she suddenly became shy and her face turned warm. Rudra saw her blush and he was so reminded of his Paro and how she had always managed to become embarrassed so easily. Some things never changed that much, Rudra thought amusingly.

When she didn’t respond immediately, he asked her, “Accha  tou tu bataa day…..kya karoon mein jo teri naraazgi khatam ho jaaye….Okay then tell me what should I do to take your anger away.....”

Tapping her fingers against her chin as if in deep contemplation, Paro tried to think of ideas or deeds he could do to pacify her.

And he vividly recalled the day when he had placed the mangalsutra around her neck, finally doing the right thing by her, making her his wife. It was right after he had sort of fulfilled her wish of snowfall as the specks of soft, fluffy cotton had floated all around them.  He could only hope that she wouldn't wish for something as difficult this time!

Then she smiled, looked into his eyes and answered, “Ok, Rudra….tum agar mujhay manaana chaahte ho....if you want to cajole me…….tou mujhay koi gaana sunaa do….come on, sing a song for me…..Ok, Rudra.......”

He cringed at her request as he had no illusions about his singing skills. As he thought of a way to get put this conundrum, she startled him by asking, “Kuch kuch hota hai…..Rudra, tumhe yeh gaana aata hai na……have you heard this song ?”

Shocked momentarily by her request, Rudra just stared at her, completely speechless, wondering if she had recalled something from their past but there was no such cognizance in her eyes.

Her fingers snapped in front of his eyes as she asked casually, “Kya hua, Rudra....what happened……yeh gaana nahi aata kya…….chalo koi  baat nahi……koi aur gaana suna do…….theek hai….if you don't know this song it fine...sing another one ?”

Staring at her keenly, Rudra couldn’t help but ask her, “……tune yeh gaana kyun kaha….why did you select this song ......?”

Oblivious to his reason for asking, she replied nonchalantly, “Pata nahi…no idea..aisey hi dimaagh mein aagaya…just came to my mind..waisey yeh gaana mujhay kaafi pasand hai…I like this song by the way…just so you know……” and smiled at him.

With his mind made up, he decided to sing the song that she had unwittingly requested, hoping against hope that perhaps it might jog her memory somehow. While he could not knowingly force her to recall for health reasons, it might not be bad if she somehow just remembered her previous life with him.

Rudra started to sing the song but he had barely sang a couple of lines when he saw a huge smile on her face, which turned into full blown laughter as she placed a hand on her mouth, trying to hold it back.

He saw her laughing at him and remembered the time she had laughed at him that night in their room asking him never to sing again, under any circumstances. And he also recalled how he had backed her against the wall and his heartbeat escalated.

She saw him stop singing as he stared at her as if upset and she tried to keep a straight face as she told him that she wouldn’t ask him to sing again. Suddenly, Paro stopped laughing as she saw his eyes looking at her lips hungrily and suddenly, she found it hard to breathe

“Ru……Ru….Rudra……,” Paro stammered and her feet moved of their own accord as she treaded backward and yet he moved forward. Her heart hammered wildly against her chest as she felt the hard wall behind her and she turned to see that she had nowhere else to go.

She was trapped. And she liked it.
